Getting Started
Keep it simple. Keep it deliberate. Keep it social.
Fitness is a decision not an emotion.
Fitness has to be a permanent feature within your schedule, not an optional extra.
Fitness is a must have not a hope to have.
Don’t fool yourself. You have the time, you’re just not giving it the time.
It’s ok to be nervous or hesitant...but do it anyway!
Set lots of small goals and make a big deal out of achieving each one.
For example: walk for 20 minutes a day and pat yourself on the back every step of the way (figuratively of course)! It’s a real achievement so be proud of it. Immediately tell yourself that you have done well and that you are on your way to becoming the person that you want to be; reinforcing your willingness to exercise with continual positive affirmation is vital for consistency and personal enthusiasm.
Reality check - you may not want to get fit, but once you start doing something about it you’ll never regret it.
If you can exercise with a friend it definitely helps. However, if you aren't quite comfortable with group exercise or if that isn’t possible for you, remember that the feel good factor that exercise brings is going to occur inside you anyway so as your confidence grows, your options and willingness to train with other people will grow accordingly.
So whatever your starting point is, don’t delay! Make the DECISION and plan to exercise from today.
